Putting It All Together

Today was our second presentation to the class. Yesterday, Mika and I had spent the night working on trying to put all the mechanics (the water, character interaction with picking up items, the day night cycle, and the dialogue boxes) into the same scene as my forest layout. However, there was something wrong with the scene and nothing we put in would work, They would work individually, or in separate scenes together, but never with the map. As a result, we were unable to show the level as playable, like we had planned to.

After the presentation, Alicia discovered that the Floor of the Map scene had been accidentally been deleted--I had most likely done it when I had been importing and deleting the failed block out FBX files and textures.

We discussed creating a new scene, in which I would re-sculpt the river and place the water (there was clipping issues at the bank) And Mika would export the Map, recreate the Height field, and import it into a new scene. From there, we would begin our Meshing Pass.

Mika and Alicia each took portions of the map to layout at the beginning of the week, and this is what we were able to show the class. An Overview of the current map:

This is the blockout of the final checkpoint, the "Game Over" of the level.
